Genesis Financial Solutions Community Involvement
Genesis Financial Solutions is happy to have been involved in many local and national volunteer events over the past few months. Our community donations and volunteer work aligns with Genesis' overall goal of helping individuals and families access the goods, services and healthcare needed to enjoy their lives. Our current effort runs through the end of January with a food drive in support of the Oregon Food Bank. The reason for the timing of this drive is that January is typically the worst month for the food banks. They have given out the majority of their inventory over the holiday season and are in great need.
A letter from the Oregon Food Bank thanking us for our March '11 donation stated that we donated 630 pounds of food, which was enough food for ~12 3-5 day emergency food supply boxes for families. Boxes like these go to underserved individuals and families who do not have enough to eat. In 2010, the OFB collected and distributed 34.3 million pounds of food in Oregon and Washington. Genesis Financial Solutions hopes to collect enough food to beat last year's donation and help the growing number of Oregon families in need of nutritious meals.
In December we "wrapped up" a very successful toy drive by teaming up with Marines from the 6th Engineer Support Battalion to support the Toys for Tots Foundation. Genesis employees' generosity was overwhelming. The pile of toys and winter clothing being collected to help the more than 35,000 children in the Portland area in need of toys grew to the point where it was hard to walk through the reception area until the presents were carted away.
Aside from our School Supply drive for the Beaverton School District and Genesis' Cookie Dough for Doernbecher Childrens' Hospital, Genesis Financial Solutions is also proud of our work with the American Red Cross, S.M.A.R.T. and the many other organizations that help families access goods and services to improve their lives.

Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into the blood drive on Thursday, October 13th, 2011. Up to three people may be able to receive help from each of the 18 pints of blood that were collected because of your efforts. We at the Red Cross would like to say a sincere “thank you” for each of the people who were able to have surgery, survive a serious accident or lengthen their life span.
Thank you to Susan P. who spent time recruiting donors and assisted at the blood drive. Also, we are grateful to all those who donated, because despite all the advances of modern medicine, without life-giving blood many people would not survive.
